The Library offers a wide variety of materials and programs designed to engage a child's interest and spark the desire for learning and reading. For information about our many children's programs, please call 941-4656 or check out the Children's Programs page.

The Parents' Role at the Greenwood County Library:
Children are very important to the Greenwood County Library. Our goal is to provide materials and programs that will enhance and enrich each child's library visit. The Library provides professional assistance, reviews, and annotated lists to help parents match their stated needs with available materials. We encourage you to assist your child in choosing materials you consider appropriate for your own family values as well as the maturity and development of your child.

A library is a public building, open to everyone in the community. Please use the same precautions for insuring your child's safety that you would in any public location. Library Staff assumes that all library customers are able to care for themselves or are under the supervision of a responsible individual, such as a parent, guardian, or babysitter.

Children who cannot work independently should not be left in the Library. Small children should not be left alone for their own safety.

Library hours are posted on the door of each building, on the Library's brochure, on bookmarks and on this website. Please make sure your child is picked up BEFORE closing time. The Library Staff cannot assume responsibility for children under age 18 who are left at the Library after closing.

Parenting Resource Center
The Parenting Resource Center in the Children's Room of the Greenwood County Library provides a rocking chair, a comfortable sofa for reading to your children, and a play rug for all ages. Books and videos on parenting and prenatal care provide information important to the health of your child.

Grandparents' Resource Center
The Children's Room also has a Grandparents' Resource Center with books and a recliner.
