Volunteer Program

The Greenwood County Library invites you to join its volunteer program.

A variety of opportunities are available, including:

  • Welcome Desk aides
  • Literacy and ESL tutors
  • Tour guides
  • Computer tutors
  • Genealogy/Local History Room aides
  • Special Event aides
  • Book processing aides
  • Books2Go Bookstore
  • Sorting items for the Friends' book sale
  • Children's Room and Teen Center aides

The Library offers training and convenient scheduling. Volunteers will have a choice of time commitments, including on-going, short-term, and long-term.

We invite you to invest yourself -- your time and your talents -- in the Library's services and programs. Applications are available at the Greenwood County Library and its branch libraries, the Ninety Six Branch Library and the Ware Shoals Community Library; or, you may download an application from the link below.

If you want to volunteer for the ESL/Literacy program you need to fill out the ESL/Literacy Volunteer Application on the Adult Literacy/ESL page after the GCL Volunteer Application.

Teen Volunteers

Now Accepting Applications for Rising 9th - 12th Graders! 


 
Are you looking for community service opportunities for school or college applications? Become a Teen Summer Volunteer at the Library! Teen Volunteers will be under the supervision of the Young Adult Services Coordinator and will be able to particpate in a variety of service activities in the Teen Center, Children's Room, and other areas of the Library.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Teen Advisory Board/Event Planning: Mondays, 5-6:30PM This group meets nearly every Monday to plan 2 children's program per year (A Christmas Program and Spring Easter Egg Hunt), assist the YA Services Coordinator with brainstorming ideas for Teen programs, events, and materials) 
  • Assisting with Children and Tween Programs under supervison with YA Services and Children's Services Coordinators
  • Setting up and taking down programs (including Summer Reading preformaces, LEGO Club, Anime Club, Board Game Club, etc.
  • Preparing Take-Home Crafts and other passive programs
  • Participating in community service projects planned by Teen Advisory Board
  • and more!
 

How to apply:

Fill out and submit a TEEN VOLUNTEER APPLICATION and a PARENTAL CONSENT FORM at the Circulation Desk.  The Volunteer Coordinator will submit your application to the Young Adult Services Coordinator who will contact you to set up an appointment.
