Welcome to the Teen page. For information on all things teen related stop by the Teen Center or call the Teen Desk 941-3031. The Teen Center is a place for all teens to be able to read, learn, and socialize.
Check out our programs below. All teen programs will take place in the Teen Center unless otherwise specified. Anime Club meets downstairs in the American Veterans Auditorium. You must be in Grades 6 - 12 to participate in Teen Programs. You can register for all programs in the Teen Center at the Main Library.
Our Collections:
Board Game Collection and Community Puzzle: Come by and play any of our board games with your friends in the Teen Center or work on the community puzzle. Board Games and puzzles CANNOT leave the Teen Center. Make sure to check out the Board Game Club if you are interested in meeting new players. Adults and Children: The Teen Center is a safe place for teens to read and socialize together. For that reason, only Teens* are allowed to hang out in the Teen Center. *A parent, guardian, or sibling are welcome to play a board game with a teen. Adults and children under 5th Grade are allowed to come in for materials. Children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult or a teen who is 15 years or older. |

Teen Programs are for grades 6th - 12th. During the summer, rising 6th graders (just finished their 5th grade school year) will be able to participate in the Teen Center programs. Most programs will be held in the American Veterans Auditorium unless otherwise noted.
We welcome program suggestions! If you have an idea, please submit it to Ms. Jessica either in person or by email! (We can't do everything, but we can try.)

Spook Night - A Free All Ages Event! Monday, October 9: 5PM - 7:30PM About: We are so excited to announce our second annual Spook Night at the Greenwood County Library! This will be an indoor/outdoor event with a Halloween Costume Contest, Pumpkin Contest, Magician, games, and more! B-Rad, The Magician's "Super Duper Fun Magic Show" 5PM - American Veterans Auditorium B-Rad will kick off the festivities for Spook Night with his "Super Duper Fun Magic Show." Come be amazed and laugh your head off at B-Rad's blend of comedy and magic. This show will be fun for all ages! No Registration Required. |

Halloween Costume Contest 6PM - American Veterans Auditorium By popular request, we will be adding a costume contest this year! This will be a family-friendly contest, so keep it clean and an appropriate level of scary. Registration will be required. Rules and other important information will be available soon. Halloween Pumpkin Patch 5PM - 7:15PM - Library Lawn (by flagpoles) Bring your best decorated pumpkin to our Halloween Pumpkin Patch and show off your skills. Spooky or cute, you can decide, but will you have the best Halloween Pumpkin? Check out the rules below:
Registration Begins September 25 You can bring your pumpkin to the Library between between Noon - 5:00 PM on October 9th.All pumpkins will be on display from 5-7:30PM in our Pumpkin Patch. Voting will be open from 5-7PM Voting:
Display: You can allow your pumpkins to be put on display in the Library until Friday, October 13. All pumpkins must be picked up no later than 5PM on October 13. Any leftover pumpkins will be discarded. |

Games and More 5PM - 7:30PM - Library Lawn (by flagpoles) Games: Pumpkin Toss: You have three tries to get the bean bag through the Jack O'Latern.Monster Bowling: Roll your ball and see how many monsters you can take down.Cake Walk: Walk to the beat of Halloween music. When the music stops, will you be lucky enough to win a cake?Fun Stuff: Swag Table:Make sure to stop by the swag table to pick out your spooky gifts and candy. Available while supplies last. Parents are responsible for picking up swag for children under 11. Tattoo Station:Make sure to grab a temporary tattoo to show off at school! |

Tweens and Teens! Tweens* and teens in grades 3rd - 12th can join us for Board Game Club in the American Veterans Auditorium. We will have several games available to play on different skill and grade levels. We will occasionally split the Teens to a different table from the Tweens if they want to play a game that is more appropriate for older ages *We consider Tweens to be somewhere between the ages of 8-12, but since we go by grade level, we have expanded the "tween ages" to grades 3rd-8th. Current games include: Mysterium, Escape Room in a Box: Werewolf Edition, Unstable Unicorns, Poetry for Neanderthals, Exploding Kittens, Kids against Maturity, Taco, Cat, Goat, Cheese, Pizza, Scrabble, Monopoly, & Battleship. Lego Club: A Joint Children's Room & Teen Center Program
This program is for 2nd - 12th Grade The following WEDNESDAYS in the AMERICAN VETERANS AUDITORIUM Drop in between 4 - 5:30 on: September 20 October 18 November 15 December 13 Spend some time having fun and creating with Legos. We'll give you topic that you can use to create an object out of legos. This event is for children and teens in 2nd - 12 Grade. You can drop by and join Lego Club anytime between 4 - 5:30 to accomodate those who get out of school later or ride the bus. We will clean up the Legos at 5:30PM. |

Pumpkin Painting - ALL AGES Wednesday, October 4 : 4-5PM American Veterans Auditorium It's October... and the Library's Pumpkin Contest is right around the corner! Make a painted pumpkin that can be entered into the Spook Night Pumpkin Contest* on Monday, October 9th (5-7:30 PM). Children, Tweens, Teens, and Adults are all able to attend! Space is limited, so please register online or at the Children's, Teen, or Circulation Desks. *Entries for the Pumpkin Contest can be either painted or carved, but this program will be for painting only. Halloween Potions Wednesday, October 11: 4-5PM Teen Center Grades 6th-12th Registration Begins: October 2 Brew some magic and make some spooky decor similar to the image on the left. With some food coloring, mica powder, glitter, and other ingredients, we can make potions that sparkle or change color with a shake of the bottle. Space is limited, so please register online, at the Teen Desk, or call us at 941-3031. |

Are you looking for community service opportunities for school or college applications? Become a Teen Summer Volunteer at the Library! Teen Volunteers will be under the supervision of the Young Adult Services Coordinator and will be able to particpate in a variety of service activities in the Teen Center, Children's Room, and other areas of the Library. |
