Karon (To Be Where You Are, 2017) has gathered material from her Mitford series featuring Episcopal priest Father Tim Kavanaugh (beginning with At Home in Mitford , 1994) into this compilation. There are 14 chapters, corresponding to the 14 novels in the series, each containing excerpts that range in length from a few lines to several pages. Each chapter starts with a short description of the novel, and most of the excerpts are accompanied by a sentence or two providing some context and commentary. Karon's introductory essay tells how a midlife religious epiphany inspired her to begin writing the novels when she turned 50. One doesn't have to share Father Tim's and Karon's beliefs in order to enjoy the gentle charm of the Mitford novels, but this book will be best appreciated by those for whom the faith-based aspect of the books is the primary appeal.--Mary Ellen Quinn Copyright 2018 Booklist
