"Character Sketches" is for anyone who likes to sketch, draw, or paint, not just professional artists. All skill levels are welcome. It is part of the library's adult programming though high school aged participants are welcome to attend. Sometimes we even have photographers. There is no "teacher." Just come and practice. One thing we constantly hear from new participants is, "Gee. I wish I could draw like that." The answer from the "seasoned" participants is, "Practice. Practice. Practice."

Though subject to change, the tentative calendar for this year's program on on the right.

Costumes for models are character appropraite. They may range from flowing gowns to loincloths, but models are always draped.

From his first introduction, Bottom is presented as courageous and outgoing. He is confident in his ability to play any, even all, roles in "Pyramus and Thisbe." For example, he says his performance of Pyramus will cause the audience to cry a stormload of tears. As the audience realizes, this confidence is misplaced, and Bottom is little more than a swaggering fool — indeed, an ass, as Puck's prank makes apparent.
