The work's first part outlines the extraordinary revolution in modern theoretical physics. The discovery of the quantum universe and the strange, counterintuitive manner of its functioning necessitates, according to the authors, a new paradigmatic conception of the nature of reality. The second part outlines one possible new paradigm and argues the thesis that the universe is fundamentally connected to human consciousness. This position has traditionally been called idealism, but the authors prefer the phrase "human universe." The review of modern scientific ideas about the nature of reality is very well done. Kaleo Griffith's crisp reading is well suited to lucidly explaining these complex concepts. The authors' own theory about the consequences of a quantum under-standing of the universe is more suggestive than persuasive. VERDICT -Recommended for listeners interested in asking deep questions about the nature of oneself, the universe, and the limits of -science.-Denis Frias, Mississauga Lib.
