Freading FAQs

Collection:
  • Over 70,000 fiction and non-fiction eBooks for adults, teens and children
  • New titles added weekly

Availability:

  • Unlimited simultaneous use; all titles are always available
  • Freading allows patrons to borrow eBooks based on a weekly book loan allotment system
  • Each patron receives a weekly number of book loans
    • The number of book loans roll over for 4 weeks, for a maximum of 12 book loans per month.  At the end of the fourth week, unused loans are cleaned out of the account and a new four week cycle has begins
    • A week is Monday to Sunday from Midnight, EST
  • eBooks checkout for a period of two weeks and are renewable

Mobile Apps & Device Compatibility:

Computer & Laptop users will find it necessary to have Adobe Digital Editions installed onto their computer or laptop in order to download Freading eBooks.

To authorize Adobe Digital Editions on your computer, you will also need to create an Adobe ID.

Mobile device users will need to download their files into an application.  They will also need an Adobe ID in order to active their Freading app for use.  Create your Adobe ID by clicking here.

Adobe ID's and Adobe Digital Editions:

  • All mobile device users will need an Adobe ID in order to activate their Freading app for use. If users do not already have an Adobe ID, they can create an ID by visiting the Adobe website, here.
  • eReader users (Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo) will also need an Adobe ID in order to utilize the Adobe® Digital Editions software on their PC.
  • Adobe Digital Editions is a software program similar to iTunes in that it manages downloads and stores the eBooks on your PC. 
  • If the eReading device is not compatible with the Freading app (Nook, Sony Reader, Kobo), then the eBooks will need to be transferred from their PC to their eReader through the Adobe Digital Editions software.

RBdigital Magazines FAQs 

Submit an online RBdigital Online Support Request.

Collection:

  • Almost 100 popular digital magazines.
  • Chinese, French and Spanish language magazines available, too.

Availability:

  • Check out as many magazines as you like, though they do have to be checked out one at a time.
  • There is no time limit on the check out period.  Once you check out a magazine, it's yours to browse and read until you delete it from your computer or mobile device.

Mobile Apps & Device Compatibility:

  • The Zinio for Libraries mobile app (pictured to the left) is a READ ONLY app that allows enchanced reading options, including bookmarking and reading offline via downloaded magazines.  
  • RBdigital has merged the mobile app for Zinio for Libraries into their app, which also includes what was OneClickdigital, too.  You can download eAudios, eBooks and digital magazines all from one app, here.

If you are using a computer or laptop....

  • Using your computer, eBooks can be read in your Internet browser using the eBook viewer.  No software needs to be downloaded.

  • eBooks can also be downloaded for offline use.  If you are using your computer or laptop, you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions.  The free software can be downloaded from this link.

If you are using a mobile device....

The EBSCO eBooks app is available for:

• iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) from the iTunes app store
