Introducing FCPL's 1st Sensory Support Kit & Social Narrative

The Fluvanna County Public Library Social Narrative (found here) walks patrons through what they can expect when they visit our library.

When the link above is clicked a viewable slideshow will appear about what a person will see and hear at the library, what the library offers, and the library rules.  

The social narrative was created to help anyone feel more comfortable visiting the FCPL for the first time, however it specifically aims to support those with autism, ADHD, and anxiety.

In addition to the narrative, the FCPL is now offering in-house usage of its first Sensory Kit specifically geared toward children. 

The kit consists of a laminated version of our social narrative and a set of sensory tools including noise reducing head phones, a visual timer, fidgets, a wiggle seat, and a library-specific visual communication card.
