An Evening With Robert Vivian

Robert Vivian, faculty member of the Alma College English Department, will be discussing his upcoming book, Immortal Soft-Spoken. He will also read a selection of his poetry, discuss his writing career, and take questions from the audience. Mr. Vivian will also include some readings appropriate for the St. Patrick’s Day season.

Immortal Soft-Spoken is a collection of short poetic essays that resonate well beyond the page. In this ecstatic and beautiful book of dervish essays, Robert Vivian uses style, imagination, and stunning feeling to give voice to the small moments of wonder so often overlooked. This book is a tender and joyful reminder of our shared humanity.

Robert Vivian's publications include the novels in The Tall Grass Trilogy (The Mover Of Bones, Lamb Bright Saviors, and Another Burning Kingdom), another novel entitled Water And Abandon, two books of meditative essays Cold Snap As Yearning and The Least Cricket Of Evening and three books of prose poems Mystery My Country, Traversings (co-written with Richard Jackson), and the forthcoming Immortal Soft-Spoken. He is a professor of English at Alma College and is a core faculty member in the low-residency MFA at The Vermont College Of Fine Arts.
