SAFETY FIRST

  • All patrons age 2 and up should wear a face mask properly (over nose and mouth). If you are unable to wear a face mask properly, we can provide service to you through curbside pickup or homebound delivery.

  • All patrons must observe 6 ft. social distancing guidelines. Please follow the signage throughout the library.

  • We have limited seating throughout the building to curb gatherings per state guidelines.

  • Paper grocery bags are available upon request at checkout.

  • If you are accompanying minors 13 and younger, they must remain with parents/guardians at all times. 

  • We have hand sanitizer stations throughout the library.

  • If you have any COVID-19-related symptoms, please stay home.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WE'RE TAKING

  • Staff throroughly cleans their assigned areas after patron use.

  • Drinking fountains have been taken out of service.

  • Acrylic stands have been added to all public service desks.

  • Staff are required to wear face masks properly (over nose and mouth) while in the library.


WHAT WE OFFER

Public computers

  • Limited computer use (6 computers in Adult, 4 in Children).
  • Computers will be available for 60 minutes sessions, no extensions at this time.
  • Computer use will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There will be limited computer assistance available.

Printing, copying, faxing, and scanning

  • Please have exact change or small bills.
    • Credit cards are not accepted for printing, copying, and faxing.
    • Printing & copying are $0.10/page for black and white, $0.50/page for color.
    • Faxing is $1.00 a page.
  • ​Remote Printing is available.
    • ​You must have a Fox Lake District Library card or a Registered Reciprocal card to use remote printing.

Grab ‘n Go browsing and checking out of items

  • Books, Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, Board Books, and Audiobooks are available for browsing and checking out.
    • ​Please place browsed material on a reshelving cart for reshelving.
  • Interlibrary Loan Services

  • Return items to drive up book return on the north side of the building or at the indoor book drop near the Main Circulation Desk. Please do not leave returned items on the Main Circulation Desk.

Curbside Service 

  • Curbside Pickup is available daily. Place items on hold first. Once your items are ready, you will receive a notification. Park in a marked Curbside Pickup Spot and call the Library. Materials on hold for you will be checked out on your account. No appointment is necessary.​

Programming

  • Programs, story times, book discussions, and tutorials will continue virtually with some book discussions being held in person (see our online Events Calendar).
    • Some of our virtual programs require an email address when registering.
    • Some are live and some are recorded on our YouTube Channel.
    • Some in-person book clubs are restored with limited capacity.
    • All of our in person programming will require registration.
  • Library card registration at Checkout Desk (bring a photo ID). If you got a temporary library card while we were closed, please come in with your photo ID to pick up your physical card.

Study Rooms

  • Please continue to wear your mask properly (covering both your nose and mouth), regardless of Vaccination Status.
  • Study rooms are available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations are accepted.
  • Check in at the Adult Reference desk on the second floor.
  • Study rooms may be used for ninety minutes. If no one is waiting at the end of the first ninety minutes of use, the study room may be used in additional thirty minute increments until another patron requests use of the room. When another patron requests use of the room, the current user may complete their current thirty minute increment.
  • Use of study rooms will end thirty minutes prior to the closing of the library facility.
  • Observe current study room occupancy due to COVID-19 (posted in room).
  • Lights must remain on during evening hours!

​Internet Cafe

  • Please continue to wear your mask properly (covering both your nose and mouth), regardless of Vaccination Status.
  • Check in at the Circulation desk on the first floor.

Friends of the Library Book Sale Room

  • Please continue to wear your mask properly (covering both your nose and mouth), regardless of Vaccination Status.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How do I return library items?

  • Please return your library items in the drive up book returns on the north side of the building or at the indoor book drop near the Main Circulation Desk. Please do not leave returned items on the Main Circulation Desk.
  • What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and staff?

    Please see Safety Precautions We're Taking above. The library will continue to follow the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and Lake County Health Department guidelines.
  • How long is a hold held for me?

    Holds are held for five days. We’re unable to extend the amount of time an individual hold is held; this ensures everyone receives their holds in a timely manner.

    Inter-Library Loan Holds are held for seven days. They are then sent back to their home library if no contact is made.

You'll need a Fox Lake District Library library card number to download e-content and to use most of our e-services. Our Digital Databases include eBooks, music, audiobooks, movies & TV, magazines, learning opportunities, curated research materials, local & family history, and much more.
