Local History & Genealogy

The Lonoke Library System offers genealogy services through our resident genealogist, Ms. Leisa Horness, primarily located at the Cabot Public Library in Cabot, Arkansas.

Our historical archives focus on Lonoke County and include microfilm of the Lonoke Democrat Gazette, Cabot Star Herald, Carlisle Independent, and England Democrat. Other records include cemetery listings, oral histories, and local histories.

The genealogy program offers family research workshops and provides our patrons access to the library edition of Ancestry.com, Fold3.com, and Newspapers.com.

Ancestry Library Edition brings the world’s most popular consumer online genealogy resource to your library. It’s an unprecedented online collection of individuals from North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, and more.

Fold3 Library Edition provides convenient access to US military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served.

Newspapers (Southeast) Library Edition offers people of all ages and interests access to more than 85 million digitized pages, dating from the early 1700s into the early 2000s.
