All Sumner County residents are eligible for a library card. Photo identification and proof of current mailing address are required. Out-of-county adult residents may qualify for a free non-resident card. Your library card will expire in two years and you will be asked to reverify your contact information.
Using your library card:
A library card must be presented at the time of checkout. Adults may check out up to 15 items, children and teens may check out up to five items. Other limits may apply.
All items checkout for two weeks. All items, except movies, can be renewed once. Items cannot be renewed if they are on reserve.
You may place items on reserve online, over the phone, or in person. All reserved items must be picked up within one week.
Using your library card online:
You can manage your account, check due dates, renew items, reserve items, create lists, and save your searches online. On the home page, click “My Account” and log in using your library card number.
Fines and fees:
Overdue fines are charged at $0.10 per day for print and audio materials and $1.00 per day for movies. The maximum overdue fine limits are: $10.00 for movies, and $5.00 for all other items.
Replacement cards cost $1.00
Fees for lost or damaged materials are charged at the replacement cost of the item.
Using the Internet at the library:
Public Internet computers are available from opening until thirty minutes prior to closing; session time may be limited. Cardholders may use a computer for a single two hour session per day. Visitors may use a computer for a single hour session per day. All users may request guest passes for additional sessions availability allows.
Cardholders with library cards in good standing may go directly to the computers and log in. Visitors may obtain a guest pass at the Reference Desk after providing ID.
Children under the age of 12 must have a parent / guardian supervise them at the computer. Children ages 12 through 16 must have an Internet permission slip signed by their parent or legal guardian before using the computers.
Donating books and other materials:
The library accepts donations from the community, on behalf of Hendersonville Library Friends.
We accept books (hardcover and paperback), videos (DVD and VHS), audio books and music CDs. Donated items will be placed in the library collection as needed, used in the Hendersonville Library Friends book sale, or discarded.

Memorials and Honorariums:
Donations may be made for the purchase of books and other materials in memory of, or in honor of, an individual or group. Please contact the library for further information.
