BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: The George Washington Hotel, located on the southeast corner of Piccadilly and Cameron Streets, opened in Winchester, VA on June 17, 1925. For many years the five story, 102 room hotel was the social hub of the Lower Shenandoah Valley. By 1975 the hotel’s heydays seemed behind it, and it was turned into an adult assisted living home until 1995. Completely vacant since 1997, the hotel, after extensive renovation, was reopened in April 30, 2008 as a 90 room historic hotel.
