SCOPE AND CONTENT: This collection contains records, correspondence, receipts, account books, and miscellaneous papers pertaining to the James B Frye family from the early 1800s to the early 1900s in Mountain Falls, Frederick County, VA.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: James B. “Beany” Frye was born on August 22, 1821 near Mountain Falls, Frederick County, VA. Frye married Sarah Ann Penell on January 6, 1845 and the couple had 10 children, three of whom died as infants. Frye and his wife attended St. Johns Lutheran Church of Mountain Falls, and are buried there. Sarah died of consumption on May 7, 1881. James Frye died on August 27, 1899. Both are buried in the St John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Mountain Falls.
