BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: Daniel Fagan, son of John and Mary Fagan, was born in Winchester, VA in 1827. Just before the Civil War, he moved to Luray, VA, where he became a highly respected citizen. He took part in the John Brown Raid at Harper’s Ferry as part of Morgan’s Continentals Guards. During the Civil War, he was a member of Co. K, 10th VA Infantry as First Lieutenant. After an injury at the First Battle of Manassas, VA, he returned to Luray, VA, where he went on to become the mayor. By occupation, he was a marble cutter and carved many of the headstones in Green Hill Cemetery. Daniel Fagan died on February 5, 1892 and is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Luray, VA.
