Scope and Content: This collection is comprised of genealogies, scrapbooks, and other personal papers of the Henry Baker family of Winchester, VA.

Biographical/Historical: Henry Baker was born in Germany on June 10, 1733. He came to America around 1755 and became a partner of Frederick Conrad. He built his home, "Willow Grove," on 500 acres outside of Winchester. During the American Revolution, he was a commissary. By trade, he was a butcher and a general merchandise dealer. He married Maria E. Fink and had eight children. On March 17, 1808, Henry Baker died and was buried in the old Lutheran graveyard in Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, VA.
