John W. Affleck Collection, 279 THL

SCOPE AND CONTENT: The John W. Affleck Collection contains Huber family papers from Holland and Pennsylvania. Included are the original papers written in Dutch and an English translation. These papers range from letters to baptism certificate and range from 1733 to 1843.

BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL: John W. Affleck was a Winchester, VA resident and businessman. He was born at his family home "Bid-a-Wee" on Peyton Street in Winchester, VA on Jan. 1, 1850, to Alexander G. Affleck and Ann E. Hoover. For many years he was in the agricultural implement business with his brother Scott A. Affleck. On Dec. 26, 1883, he married Rosa Kerfoot and had five children. Affleck died on Dec. 27, 1930.
