OUR MISSION

The Fox Lake District Library has been proudly serving our community for over 80 years and strives to provide quality informational and recreational materials, programs for all ages, and resources to meet the needs of the community.
Information contained within this guide reflects limited and modified service measures due to COVID-19 and is subject to change. Our website will always have the most recent information or you may call us at 847-587-0198.


LIMITED SERVICE

  • Library Staff members will not accept direct returns.
  • The drive-up drop boxes are available 24 hours a day and are the only entry point for returns.
  • Library Reciprocity has been temporarily suspended. You must be a Fox Lake District Library Cardholder in order to place items on hold or borrow items from our collection.
  • If you currently have an Inter-Library Loan that you have received from us, please return it to us so we can reconcile your account and our system.
  • Materials from other Illinois libraries must be returned to the lending library unless it is an Inter-Library Loan you received before the COVID-19 Closure.

LIBRARY CARDS

Temporary Library Cards are available to district residents. Begin the process by completing the online application. You will then receive your temporary card number to access online resources.

When you visit the library, come to the Circulation Desk with a current ID or other accepted forms of identification to complete your application and pick up your physical card.
 


INTER-LIBRARY LOANS

Inter-Library Loan Service has temporarily been suspended.
Please only return ILLs that you had received from us before the COVID-19 Closure so we can reconcile your account and our system.
No new ILLs will be issued until further notice.


BORROWING MATERIALS

Library patrons may borrow books, magazines, Fiction DVDs, Non-Fiction DVDs / TV Programs, Blu-rays, Audiobooks, Music CDs, and Board Books.
New Fiction DVD Titles must be placed on hold via telephone or in person. Magazines are not available for browsing and must be placed on hold.

RENEWALS

Library materials may not be renewed during this time.


FINES & DUE DATES

Due dates for all materials are set for three (3) weeks after the checkout date. Although fines are not currently being applied to Patron accounts, we encourage you to return your borrowed material in a timely manner, as the Fine system will eventually be reinstated.


HOLDS

Start the process by placing items on hold. You may place a hold on qualifying material (see BORROWING MATERIALS section) via our website by Logging into your account and placing holds directly (see OUR WEBSITE section)

You may also call us at 847-587-0198

  • A limit of fifteen (15) holds per patron, per day, may be placed on all items indicated under the BORROWING MATERIALS section.
  • When your hold becomes available, you will receive a phone call to schedule your Curbside Pickup date and time frame. If you'd prefer to pickup your hold when you visit the library, just let us know!
  • You may also receive a notification by email per existing account settings.
  • If you miss your Scheduled pickup,
    • items are held for three (3) days before being returned to the collection or placed on the next Patron's account.
    • It is your responsibility to call us to reschedule your pickup before the three (3) day grace period expires.
  • Call us when you arrive at 847-587-0198 ext. 128 to let us know where you are parked.

RETURNING MATERIALS


OUR WEBSITE

Log into your account on www.fllib.org by using your full Library Card Barcode number and the last four (4) digits of your Library Card number. You may change your pin at any time in your account settings.
On the website you can:

  • Find Links to other Great Websites
  • Update Your Account Information

Remember to check frequently for updates!

We call you to schedule your Curbside Pickup date and time frame after you have placed items on hold so please make sure your contact information is up to date!

    • Curbside Service:  2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday 
    • Appointment Only: 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
    • Curbside Service: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Sunday:  Library Closed

NEW TRAFFIC FLOW

When arriving for your scheduled Library Visit or Curbside Pick up, please take into consideration that the Main Driveway is now EXIT ONLY.

Please Enter at the far end of the lot or through the drive up book drop entrance.

*Tip: Return your items at the Book Drop before parking for your library visit or curbside pick up. Library Staff members will not accept direct returns and materials cannot be returned inside the building.
