SAFETY FIRST

  • All patrons age 2 and up should wear a face mask properly (over nose and mouth). If you are unable to wear a face mask properly, we can provide service to you through curbside pickup or homebound delivery.

  • All patrons must observe 6 ft. social distancing guidelines - please follow the signage throughout the library.

  • We have limited seating throughout the building to curb gatherings per state guidelines.

  • Reusable bags are not permitted. Paper grocery bags are available upon request at checkout.

  • If you are accompanying minors 13 and younger, they must remain with parents/guardians at all times. 

  • We have hand sanitizer stations throughout the library.

  • If you have any COVID-19-related symptoms, please stay home.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WE'RE TAKING

  • Staff throroughly cleans their assigned areas every 2 hours.

  • Drinking fountains have been taken out of service.

  • Acrylic stands have been added to all public service desks.

  • Staff are required to wear face masks properly (over nose and mouth) while in the library.

  • All returned items are subject to a 24 hour quarantine period before being checked in and placed back on the shelves.

    • Quarantined items will remain on your account until the quarantine period is over.

    • You will not receive any fines associated with the quarantine process.


WHAT WE OFFER

Public computers

  • Limited computer use (6 computers in Adult, 4 in Children).
  • Computers will be available for 45 minutes sessions, no extensions at this time.
  • Computer use will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There will be limited computer assistance available.

Printing, copying, faxing, and scanning

  • Please have exact change or small bills.
    • Staff will not handle any cash during this time.
    • Credit cards are not accepted for printing, copying, and faxing.
    • Printing & copying are $0.10/page for black and white, $0.50/page for color.
    • Faxing is $1.00 a page.
  • ​Remote Printing is available.
    • ​You must have a Fox Lake District Library card or a Registered Reciprocal card to use remote printing.

Grab ‘n Go browsing and checking out of items

  • Books, Music CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, Board Books, and Audiobooks are available for browsing and checking out.
    • ​Please place browsed material on a reshelving cart for cleaning.
  • Interlibrary Loan Services

  • Return items to drive up book return on the north side of the building only; no inside returns are allowed.

Curbside Service 

  • Curbside pickups by timeframe appointment will continue with reduced hours.

Pickup Cabinet

During our Grab 'n Go Hours, you may come in and pick up your items from the Pickup Cabinet.

 

  • After receiving the email notification that your hold is ready, you may call us to let us know you will be coming in during Grab 'n Go hours to get your items from a locker.
  • If you are not set up for email notifications, when you receive our phone call about your arrived hold you may let us know you will be coming in during Grab 'n Go hours to get your items from a locker.

Virtual Programming

  • Programs, story times, book discussions, and tutorials will continue virtually (see our online Events Calendar).
    • Some of our virtual programs require an email address when registering.
    • Some are live and some are recorded on our YouTube Channel.
  • Library card registration at Checkout Desk (bring a photo ID). If you got a temporary library card while we were closed, please come in with your photo ID to pick up your physical card.

WHAT'S NOT YET AVAILABLE

Unavailable Services:

  • Inside returns - Return items to drive up book return on the north side of the building; no inside returns are allowed.

  • Cash Payments - If you have a balance on your account, please log in and pay online. Staff will not handle any cash during this time.

  • On-site programs - Programs, story times, book discussions, and tutorials will continue virtually (see our online Events Calendar).

    • Some of our virtual programs require an email address when registering.

    • Some are live and some are recorded on our YouTube Channel.

    • Donations - Absolutely no donations are being accepted at this time. Any donations left on the premises will be discarded.

  • Toys, Games, & AWE Early Literacy Computers

  • Magazines, Video Games, Launchpads, & Kits for check out

Monday - Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Saturday: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How do I return library items?

  • Please return your library items in the drive up book returns on the north side of the building. Do not return items to staff members at curbside pickup or inside the building.
  • Are library items safe to use?

    All Fox Lake District Library materials will be quarantined before they are checked in and made available to others for checkout. We are following the guidelines set forth by our library system, Reaching Across Illinois Library System (RAILS). However, no industry organizations can make any medical/scientific safety guarantees regarding library materials. It will be up to the individual patron to determine their comfort level using library materials.
  • What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and staff?

    Please see Safety Precautions We're Taking above. The library will continue to follow the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and Lake County Health Department guidelines. 

 

  • How do I pick up my holds from the Pickup Cabinet?

    1. After receiving your text message, arrive during Grab 'n Go hours and walk into the building.

    2. Find the Pickup Cabinet in our Lobby.

    3. Pull up the text message you recieved after you let us know you wanted to get your items from the cabinet and scan the QR Code.

    4. Remove your items from the locker that unlocks for you.

    5. Close the locker and be on your way!

     

  • How long is a hold held for me?

    Holds are held for five days. We’re unable to extend the amount of time an individual hold is held; this ensures everyone receives their holds in a timely manner.

    Inter-Library Loan Holds are held for seven days. They are then sent back to their home library if no contact is made.

     

  • Are my items already checked out?

    Yes. We'll check out your items in anticipation of your arrival. Just come in and get your items from the locker to go.

Did you know you can access our Digital Databases 24/7 from the comfort of your home using your computer, tablet or smart phone?

You'll need a Fox Lake District Library library card number to download e-content and to use most of our e-services. Our Digital Databases include eBooks, music, audiobooks, movies & TV, magazines, learning opportunities, curated research materials, local & family history, and much more.
