Bailey, who owns the stores Fresh Flower Company and Forest in London, and horticulturist and magazine writer Allaway (Homes and Gardens; Garden Design Journal) begin with design basics (color, texture, lighting needs) and move on to projects (create an open-bottle terrarium or a desertscape), plant profiles, and plant care. Large images, easy-to-read type, a thoughtful layout, and lots of lists (items needed for a succulent wreath; golden rules for watering) make this especially good for novices.
