Fairfield Public Library has joined the WILBOR library consortium to offer downloadable e-books and audio books through the OverDrive company.
Install OverDrive's free software in your computer, then browse and select several books to pull into your computer. The digital recordings will remain in your computer for seven days, and that will give you time to transfer them to a portable device if you wish. Note that Fairfield Public Library has MP3 players to loan out.
If you are at Fairfield Public Library or have already installed OverDrive on your computer, then simply click on WILBOR. If you have not installed OverDrive, then follow the instructions in one of the tutorials described below.
There are three options to get you started, and we recommend "Simon Says." Simon is our tech support employee, and he created a terrific step-by-step approach.
The first option is to listen to the tutorial Download Digital Media Guided Tour. This option is a general and comprehensive video presentation.
The second option is WILBOR Quick Start. This tutorial begins by taking you to the instructions to download OverDrive, but it also has a wealth of additional information, including frequently asked questions (FAQs).
The third option is a slide presentation called Simon Says. This short tutorial will gently guide you in the installation of OverDrive. It is based on the previous tutorial (WILBOR Quick Start), but is limited to the basic steps. This is a good option for the beginning computer user.
