Meet our Youth Services Librarian

Hi! I'm Afton Hallauer, the Youth Services Librarian here at the Fairfield Public Library. Though it may not look like it based on the picture to the left, I love doing storytime programs both here at the library and out in the community; it's one of my favorite parts of being a librarian!

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Masters in Library and Information Sciences in 2013. Before coming to Fairfield I trained at the Champaign Public Library in Teen and Children's services. Some of my favorite children's books include:The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster, A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Scicket, the Oz series by L. Frank Baum (and those by Ruth Plumly Thompson!), and The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin.

You can always email me for book recommendations, research tips, or to ask a question about (practically) anything at aftonh@fairfield.lib.ia.us
