Escape the ordinary! Book Talk: Unbroken
Teens, adults, and seniors join us for this special book club, a part of our Escape the Ordinary! Summer reading program! We'll be reading and discussing Laura Hillenbrand's biography-cum-history of Louie Zamparini, Unbroken (now a major motion picture). From a mischievous Italian kid in California, to an American Olympian in Berlin, to a Solider in WWII's Pacific arena and a POW in Japan, then finally home to live life and inspire others, we'll hear Zamparini's amazing story put in context of his times by Hillenbrand's detailed historical narrative. We'll encounter the now amazing ordinary life of a past age, and appreciate Zamparini's extraordinary experience.
Please sign up at the front desk or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. Limited copies are available at the front desk.

Book Talk: The Friday Night Knitting Club By Kate Jacobs
June 9th, 2015
Once a week, an eclectic group of women comes together at a New York City yarn shop to work on their latest projects—and share the stories of their lives…
At the center of Walker and Daughter is the shop’s owner, Georgia, who is overwhelmed with juggling the store and single-handedly raising her teenage daughter. Happy to escape the demands of her life, she looks forward to her Friday Night Knitting Club, where she and her friends—Anita, Peri, Darwin, Lucie, and KC—exchange knitting tips, jokes, and their deepest secrets. But when the man who once broke Georgia’s heart suddenly shows up, demanding a role in their daughter’s life, her world is shattered.
Marshall Mitchell's Country Cowboy program will be a foot tapping, hand clapping, coyote howling good time! Marshall Mitchell entertains young buckaroos and buckarettes with songs and stories. This is a free program for everyone.
