"Today a reader, tomorrow a leader." W. Fusselman
The library/media center at Clay City Jr/Sr High School provides our future leaders with access to 10,000 books, subscriptions to almost 50 magazines with multiple copies of the most popular titles, and more than 50 audio-books all available for checkout. A special collection of test prep, career and college prep materials are housed together in a convenient location near the front of the library. The media center resources include seating/tables for over 40 people, Distance Ed TV hookup, 5 computer workstations in the front of the library and a computer lab adjoining the media center with 22 stations and a projector.
The library/media center welcomes students to a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to read, study, research and socialize. The media center has a large collection of today’s most popular series for teens, such as The Hunger Games, Immortals, Percy Jackson, The Mortal Instruments, Blue Bloods, and the House of Night series to get students hooked and to encourage a lifelong love of reading. The Eliot Rosewater Award Books (Rosie Books) are featured each year on their own shelf. The purpose of the Rosie Books is to encourage high school students to read for fun. A book case dedicated to the Manga genre includes Bleach, Full Metal Alchemist, Fruits Baskets and Naruto series, which are some of the most checked out books in the media center. New books are introduced each day on CCTV with a featured book of the day blurb provided by the media specialist. New books are on display on a special table in the center of the media center.
"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it thinks about education." --Harold Howe, former US Commissioner of Education
