The library media program strives to be an integral part of Van Buren Elementary School and its surrounding community. To provide collaboration with staff, to create authentic learning for all students , to provide quality resources and instruction to students and staff, and to encourage staff and students in becoming effective users of ideas and information and to promote life-long reading and learning both for pleasure and for information.
Each year with the help of the teachers and assistants, we encourage students to read books from the Young Hoosier Book Award Program to further stimulate reading for pleasure. As an added incentive, the school whose students read the most YHBA books gets to choose the color for Mrs. Stout’s hair for the month of May. Cash prizes and other incentives are used as motivational tools.
Our library recently has been renovated and has a cheery and welcoming atmosphere for all students, staff and parents.
