The library/media center at Northview High School provides our students with access to 19,000 books, subscriptions to almost 50 magazines and around 30 audio-books all available for checkout.  At the main door, a display of new books and the Rosie Award winning books (chosen as best reads for high school students by students in Indiana) are easily accessible for students.  A special collection of test prep, career, college prep materials and reference are easily accessible for students.  The media center resources include seating for over 70 people on the main level and 30 on the upper level, Distance Learning TV hookup, Ellison Die Cut machine, and 8 computer workstations for student use.

The library/media center is also home to NTV, Northview’s live morning news/announcement program and Book Club which gives students the opportunity to share their love of reading with each other. As an added benefit, the Clothes Closet is housed in one of our rooms.  Students may also purchase new student IDs in the library/media center for $2.00.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays free tutoring is offered in English, Math and Science from 3:30-4:30.  Students may also use computers during this time.

The library/media center welcomes students to a friendly, relaxed atmosphere to read, study, research and socialize.  The media center has a large collection of today’s most popular series for teens, such as The Hunger Games, Tunnels, Percy Jackson, and Degrees of Guilt series to get students hooked and to encourage a lifelong love of reading.   We also have Manga available which are some of the most checked out books in the media center.  New books are introduced on NTV with a featured book of the day blurb provided by the media specialist.

"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it thinks about education." --Harold Howe, former US Commissioner of Education
