Remote access (access from a computer outside of the library) to our subscription databases is controlled by what is called a "Referring URL". For this system to work properly, the companies who publish these databases need to see the URL (web address) of the authenticated page you use to access their resources. This authenticated page is the CRDL page which lists all of our subscription resources that you get to by typing in your library card number and PIN.

Many new Internet security packages and firewall programs block the publishing companies from viewing this referring URL. When this happens, the company will ask for an ID and password which does not exist. The only way for you to get access to these databases if you are using a security program that does this, is to add the domain names of these databases as allowed sites within your security packages. The sites to allow are:

search.epnet.com
elibrary.com
infotrac.galegroup.com
discoverer.sirs.com
newfirstsearch.oclc.org
firstsearch.oclc.org
learningexpresslibrary.com
heritagequestonline.com

culturegrams.com
alexanderstreet.com

oclc.org
sks.sirs.com
netlibrary.com
referenceusa.com

If you need further assistance, please refer to the manual for your security software. If you try these steps and are unable to get your system to work, please call 773-3242 x32 and we will try to help.
