One of a series of thematic cookbooks produced by the popular magazine Taste of Home, this book offers 427 different options for preparing a variety of dishes from widely available starters (e.g., condensed soup, biscuit mix, pudding mix, instant mashed potatoes). In keeping with the magazine's emphasis on reader-submitted recipes, each entry indicates the source's name and location and features some brief comments. Color photos are provided throughout. Recipes include clear, straightforward directions, and most use simple or easily obtained ingredients. Special sections on snacks and beverages, breads, and breakfast and brunch are included, along with the standard sections on main dishes, side dishes and salads, and soups-and many will be delighted to see not one, but two sections on sweets and desserts. This title will appeal to beginning cooks, traditional home-style cooks in a hurry, or those who simply want an easy reference for quick comfort food.
