Seattle florist Jane is doing work she loves and has a close set of friends and a faithful canine companion named Sam. But her quiet life changes when she receives a card in the mail from a mysterious woman named Colette, who claims not only to have been present at Jane's birth but also to know the source of Jane's lifelong vision problems. When Jane pays Colette a visit, she is given a task: discover the six forms of love by the full moon following her thirtieth birthday. If she fails to do so, Jane will be immune from love for the rest of her life. When she meets Cam, a science writer for Time, they instantly click. But when Cam's writing takes a deeply personal turn, Jane questions her ability to recognize any kind of love at all. Jio (Goodnight June, 2014) has once again crafted an engaging story populated by lovable characters. This is a charming journey into the lives of people trying to follow the map of love and finding themselves somewhere totally unexpected at the journey's end.--Gladstein, Carol Copyright 2014 Booklist

When Jane Williams was born, she was given the ability to see love. This condition, which causes her vision to go foggy and creates instant headaches, has been more of a medical concern than a gift throughout her life, resulting in years of consultations with neurologists. But the day after her 29th birthday, Jane meets the woman who has not only given her this special ability but has set forth a task for her: Jane must identify the six types of love before sunset on her 30th birthday, or she will live a life without love. As she watches her closest friends go through turmoil in their romances, Jane guides them to their hearts' true desires, while she finds a love of her own. Verdict While a very easy read, Jio's (Morning Glory; Goodnight June) latest novel has an unexceptional and fairly predictable plot. The multitude of clichéd characters make it hard to become fully invested in any of them. For a bit of light reading, fans of Jio will most likely enjoy her latest offering.-Joy Gunn, Paseo Verde Lib., Henderson, NV (c) Copyright 2014.
