Susan Boyle became an overnight phenomenon after appearing on Britain's Got Talent last year and has since recorded the fastest-selling female debut album of all time. This shy, middle-aged, frumpy woman from a small town in Scotland wowed the audience and the judges that night, and her singing has continued to attract a massive following. Montgomery, a British freelance author, seized on Susan's popularity to produce this first biography of her. This unauthorized account describes Susan as a "slow" child, deprived of oxygen at birth, who found her voice by singing-it's her heartfelt honesty that resonates with audiences. The author compiled published reports, magazine articles, video clips, Internet reviews, and blogs but did not personally interview the main characters.
