About the Library
The Monett Branch Library serves as the regional headquarters for library service in Barry and Lawrence Counties. The Monett Branch, Regional Processing Center, and Administrative Headquarters are located in rural southwestern Missouri. A majority of the reference collection for the library district is located at the Monett Branch. Trained library personnel provide extended reference service and interlibrary loan searches for the nine other branches in the consolidated library district. Van delivery service originates at the Monett Branch. The branch houses approximately 44,691 volumes.

Schedule of Events

Preschool Story Time  
Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 11:30 AM

Ages 3 - 5 and 1 - 3 if accompanied by parent or caregiver

Preschool story time will introduce preschoolers to books and the public library in a fun, exciting way. Story time sessions will include stories, songs, finger plays, and crafts which help children develop language and listening skills.

Story time sessions start promptly at their scheduled time and are 30 minutes in length. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to remain in the library during story time. 

Preschool story time is held September to mid - December. After a break over the Christmas holidays, story time resumes January to mid-May.

After School Program 
2nd Tuesday @ 4:00 PM

This program is designed to familiarize children with
the library and to encourage regular library visits. We read stories and use the resources of the library to introduce a variety of subjects and explore specific topics.

This program is for ages 6 -12 years old. Children ages 3 - 5 are encouraged to participate in the preschool story time sessions.

Sessions will be approximately 60 minutes in length. Parents may be asked to assist on special occasions.

This program is scheduled from September to mid-December, and after a holiday break, January to mid-May.

Teen After School Program 
1st Tuesday @ 4:00 PM

This program is designed to familiarize teens with the library and to encourage regular visits. We will be doing an activity, reading, and creating crafts.

This program is open to teens 13 - 18 years old. Younger children are encouraged to participate in the children's After School Program.

Sessions will be approximately 60 minutes in length. Parents may be asked to assist on special occasions.

Page Turner Book Club
"Reel Reads"
Starts September 11, 2013

2nd Wednesday @ 2:00 pm

All adults are welcome. The book club is taught by Linda Lanning.

The book club will be held from September 11, 2013 - December 11, 2013 and continue January 8, 2014 - May 14, 2014.

The "Page Turners" will meet monthly to discuss the selected books. A new series will be starting called "REEL READS" featuring books that have been made into movies. There will be a question and answer session during each meeting. Ask at the front desk for the current book selection.


Wii Gaming Event
Dates to be determined.
This event is opened to all ages.  Children must have a parent or guardian sign a release form, available at the front desk, to participate.
