About the Library
The Cassville Branch Library was the first to join with the Lawrence County Library in 1954 in a cooperative system.

Cassville serves as the county seat for Barry County. It was named for Brigadier General Lewis Cass, a leading statesman. The community is within easy driving distance to Roaring River State Park, Beaver Lake, Ark., Table Rock Lake and the popular tourist attractions of Silver Dollar City and Branson.

The library serves Cassville, an industrial and manufacturing community, and several surrounding smaller communities. Formerly located in an old home, the Cassville Branch now occupies a newer 9,400 square foot library building. The building provides space for over 65,000 volumes, adequate wiring and space for modern computer technology and automation, children's areas for book collections as well as enhanced programming space, a historical/genealogical room to house the largest collection of historical materials in the two-county system, a meeting room with a seating capacity of 75 to 100 people, and adequate parking for over 40 vehicles.

The meeting room is available free of charge for non-profit groups and for a small fee to all others. Rules and restrictions will apply.  For more information and to schedule use please contact the library staff. Click here for the Meeting Room Use Policy.

Schedule of Events
Preschool Story Time
(Mornings) Wednesdays & Thursdays 10:00 AM
(Afternoons) Wednesdays 1:30 PM

Preschool story time introduces children to books and the public library. Stories are read, songs are sung, and simple crafts are made. This is an early group experience that helps children develop language and listening skills.

Story time is for three to five-year olds. Children younger than age 3 may also attend if space is available, they are showing signs of readiness for story time, and they are accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Story time sessions start promptly at their scheduled time and are 30 minutes in length.

Story time sessions are limited to 10 children per session.

Parents or caregivers can attend. They will be asked to participate with the children in the activities. If parents or caregivers choose not to attend they are asked to remain in the library during the program.

Story time is held September to mid-December and January to mid-May. There is a break over the Christmas holidays.

If you have questions, please call the Cassville Branch Library.

Home School Program
Not Scheduled

This program is designed as a supplement for the enrichment of school age children who are being home schooled. We read stories and use the resources of the library to introduce a variety of subjects and explore specific topics. Children are encouraged to offer their own ideas for future discussions.

This program is designed for ages 6 years through 12th grade. Children ages 3 to 5 are encouraged to participate in the preschool story time sessions. Ask at the front desk for dates and times.

Programs start promptly on time and are 60 minutes in length. Parents may be asked to assist on special occasions.

Registration is required. Registration enables us to serve the needs of the students and assists us in planning activities. Registration forms are available at the circulation desk

The Home School program runs from September to mid-December, and from January to mid-May. Registration is required.
