Children in the Library

The Bladen County Public Library welcomes children at all times and regards them as an important segment of our service population. However, for their safety and in consideration of other patrons, please observe certain rules of conduct.

Parents are responsible for the conduct of their minor children in the library, whether or not they are accompanied and supervised by an adult. The library does not have the authority to supervise unattended children and cannot be responsible for accidents that happen to them.

Children left unattended for long periods of time in the library can become frightened or develop behavior problems. Any public place can be dangerous for a child left after closing time. Unaccompanied children under six and any one under aged 18 left after closing time will be referred to the Elizabethtown Police Department.
