What does the Teen Advisory Group do?
We get to play a part in making the library a more useful and fun place to be. Our main role is to help the library plan and create programs tailored to our interests. Who can join?
Membership in the Teen Advisory Group is open to Abbeville residents, aged 13-18. When are the meetings?
We generally meet once a month during the school year. Sometimes we meet at other times to work on group projects. Meetings usually take place the fourth Tuesday of every month from 4:00-5:00 pm at the Abbeville County Library. What is expected of group members?
As a member of the Teen Advisory Group you will be expected to regularly attend and participate in monthly meetings and teen library programs. How do I join?
Just fill out an application (available upon request at any of our three branches) and return it to the library. Membership is limited, so please apply as soon as possible!
Teens Weigh In On Reading Preferences
This summer, teens were asked to fill out a Reading Preferences Questionnaire.
All respondents answered that they liked Fantasy, Humor, Mysteries, Suspense, and Fairytales, Legends, and Myths. Romance was also popular with teen readers.
Favorite books included Monster High novels, anything by Sarah Dessen, and 1408 by Stephen King. When asked what books they recently read and enjoyed, the answers included Picture Perfect by Catherine Clark, Miracle’s Boys by Jacqueline Woodson, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, and The Dangerous Days of Daniel X by James Patterson.
What kind of books do you like to read? Do you have a good book to read right now?
If not, make your way to the library and tell us about your reading preferences. We’ll be happy to help you find something you’ll enjoy!
