Jackson Elementary Media Center Philosophy:
The Jackson Elementary Campus Media Center actively supports the various educational, creative, and personal needs of the entire school, including the International Baccalaureate program. Through instruction, the students will discover a love of reading; become information literate, and collect knowledge on a multitude of topics. The media specialists are a proactive resource to the faculty by providing them with collaborative planning and the necessary tools to teach their curriculum and help maximize student achievement. Through the media specialist’s guidance, the entire school community will become effective users of information.
Meet our Staff:
Teresa Webb: is the full-time media specialist at the Jackson Elementary Primary Campus. Mrs. Webb attended Auburn University and graduated with a B.A. in Marketing with an emphasis in public relations. After working in the communications market for 10 years, she decided to go back to school to get her Master's in Library Media Technology from the University of West Georgia.
Kelly Maguire: is the full-time library media specialist at Jackson Elementary Main Campus. You will either find her in the Library or Computer Lab. She holds a BA in education from Auburn University and holds a Masters in Education from Kennesaw State University. She is currently completely her Masters in Library Science with an emphasis in Computer Science at Valdosta State University.
Mauri Brune: Mrs. Brune is the media assistant at the Jackson Main Campus. You’ll see her smiling face at the circulation desk welcoming you to the library. Ms. Brune is always willing to help you find the best book for you. She works with our wonderful parent volunteers to train them on how our Media Center in run. The media center program is also assisted by a number of enthusiastic parents and grandparents.
Jackson’s Media Center Schedules:
The Jackson Elementary Media Centers are open from 7:30-2:30, Monday-Friday. Classes are flexibly scheduled from 8:00-2:00. The media specialist plans with teachers to integrate the media program with the International Baccalaureate Program. The mission of the Jackson ES Media Center is to maximize student achievement by providing academically focused media programming, resources, research skills and the use of technology.
